David was on his bed with his laptop editing a chapter of Lucy’s story when the phone downstairs rang and Liz said it was for him. He told everyone that Sophie was coming in about 20 minutes. She came with good news and bad, first the good news: Conker wasn’t blind in one eye. Last was the bad news: Conker had kidney failure and was going to die. Sophie had caught both Snigger and Conker when they escaped and had them to take to the library gardens in the back of her car. Then Liz said the name of the chapter: “Oh Sophie.”
